Week 12: Entrances

Well I am posting this on a schedule, but I am hoping that it will work okay and as if by magic my prompt will appear even though I am having a few days away with my brood..

As I know where I will be I was trying to think of some pictures I may be able to upload from my trip.. one of the memorable things from the place we stay in is the steps and doorways, all interestingly lit and quite dramatic, so it got me thinking about ...

'Entrances'

  • Monday.... A Front Door
  • Tuesday .. A Grand Entrance
  • Wednesday .. an 'Unhappy' or 'Distressed' Entrance
  • Thursday .. Entrance to a Special Place
  • Friday ... Steps to an Entrance
  • Saturday ... A Modern Entrance
  • Sunday ... A Surprise Entrance
I look forward to seeing what you come up with..plenty of scope!  Kathi xx

Week 11: Light

Hi everyone.. so sorry I wasn't on daily mode last week, I had books in my head all week but just didn't seem to get to posting..we had birthdays and busy days at work so the days just ran away from me..thanks to everyone who so kindly kept things rolling.

Tropical Natural Light

I am away from this Tuesday to the middle of next week, we are off to some warmer days in tenerife and taking time to chill (or make that warm) with our three youngest..Zac is finally getting his sleep pattern sorted after 4 months of watch keeping and I think the timing of a week off will be fine!

This week we are looking for Lights!

    • Monday ... Indoor Lights
    • Tuesday ... Light & Dark
    • Wednesday .. Reflection
    • Thursday... Sunlight
    • Friday ... Shadowplay
    • Saturday ... Natural Light
    • Sunday ...with Flash

Week 10: Books!

Thanks everyone for your shapely efforts last week.. not sure I made it very easy.. I still owe one or two but have just not been out much beyond the same old same old..

I am feeling rather pleased with myself right now..at 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon as this idea has just come to me.   I was driving my eldest grand-daughter Lilly home from school on Friday and we were talking about the fact that on Thursday this week it is her sister's 3rd birthday and also my Kate's 17th...They share a birthday and here is my blog from that special day 3 years ago. .. here! and here!

Lilly told me that it is also International Book Day on Thursday and that everyone at school is dressing up as a book character, but she didn't sound very keen, even with my suggestions of Judy Moody or 'herself' as the main character in one of those 'Book about Me' you can write yourself.....she had been to after school sport and was tired and not very receptive about anything at that point and she is not a girl you can cajole.

But it got me thinking and I realised that Books would be a great subject as you may not need to go take many imaginative pictures, in fact you may have to steal pictures from Google Images and you could get wordy if you like .. and for sure my Jordan will have some more to share about her cookbooks!

So let's focus on Books this week and here are a few prompts if you want to join in daily...

    • Monday .. Today I read...
    • Tuesday .. Fact or Fiction?
    • Wednesday. .Favourite read to Children
    • Thursday..Favourite Character in a Book
    • Friday... A Great Reference Book
    • Saturday..Your Childhood Memory or favourite
    • Sunday.. Your Book shelves.

Week 9: Shapes outside.

Well this week's prompt is a development of an idea Viv sent me last week... thanks Viv, just what we needed..

Let us share different Shapes in the Environment..

I am not sure whether to set the shapes or the environment as the prompt, so here's a few ideas of where you may find the shapes:

  • Tree
  • River / stream
  • Roof /Building
  • Chimney pot
  • Garden planter
  • Clouds
  • Hills
  • Sunshine
.. and here are the prompts for each day, though this could be a week where we put the shapes together with the subjects at the end of the week... just keep your phones / cameras at the ready and see your world in shapes!?

    • Monday ... Semi Circle
    • Tuesday .. 'S' shape
    • Wednesday ... Trapezium (definitely a 'roof' one today)
    • Thursday ... Star
    • Friday ... a Grid
    • Saturday ... 'H' shape
    • Sunday .. Cones

Week 8 : Windows

Well it's Sunday again and we have had another great week, lots of shapes and I have been busy so haven't quite got round to everyone yet..it is always nice to see how differently we all improvise or interpret the prompt.   Don't forget you can always join in once a week and make the word fit your particular view of life, however sideways or slanted it may be!

This week is a great one for me.. our Zac comes home after four months in the Pacific; he is training to be a navigation officer with Princess Cruises and this is his last sea phase of training but has been his longest.  Missing Christmas too makes it feel longer, though to be sure he won't have felt like he missed out on 9 weeks of rain (though to be fair the San Francisco to Hawaii run has not been all that fine some trips!)

We will have a mock Christmas Dinner next week.. though it will be a lot less stressful without having to 'be ready'.  A few weeks home, a weeks holiday to really hang out together and then he is back to college for his final courses and tests..

So, our prompt for this week... Windows.

I am trying to choose words which are easy if you are short on time and also things you probably have pictures of in reserve if the wintery conditions mean you don't want to get out much (apart from Joy of course who we all envy languishing in her Florida sun ;-)  )

I have tried to expand the prompt and give you some food for thought as well:
  • Monday ... my favourite view through a window
  • Tuesday ... Shop or large building window
  • Wednesday ... Modern windows
  • Thursday ... Traditional window
  • Friday ... Ornate window
  • Saturday ... Small window
  • Sunday... a Window of Opportunity (may be easier to write about than photograph!)
Hope that has given you a few ideas.. or maybe made the whole thing worse.. if so .. just 'show me some windows', a different type each day.
St Michael's Mount.. I think the windows here tick several of the prompt boxes!

Week 7 : Shapes

Hi again.. thanks to everyone who took part last week. I missed a couple of days as the evenings were hectic with family stuff and also our office computers were being upgraded so less time to peek and write bits from there!

I have just managed to lose the entry for this prompt, trying to send myself some pictures for the prompt and deleted something in error.. maybe the prompt should be swear words of the world!

Anyway...I have another busy week coming up, we are in the process of getting some new factory buildings and have meetings with all and sundry so I may only be able to post a pic and not much chat....but still, that is what Lucky 7s is about, a weekly prompt if you can only peek in once a week or a daily prompt if you want to be short and sweet but regular!

This week I am asking you to share with me the Shapes you see during your day..whether it is in your home, 'almost' shapes you see in nature .. or like me here, a cheat using the children's Shape Sorter they were playing with yesterday!

Here are some daily prompts..

    • Monday .. Squares or Rectangles
    • Tuesday .. Circles
    • Wednesday .. Triangles
    • Thursday .. Sphere or Oval
    • Friday.. Hearts.. well it is 14th Feb
    • Saturday .. Diamonds
    • Sunday.. Random fluid shapes

Good luck and catch you in the week!

Week 6 : Media

Well here I am, writing on a Saturday morning, wondering what we can share with each other this week.

It may not be a good thing that I am a bit short of inspiration so early in the year, but don't worry.. I have a long list of potential themes, just not one which feels right this week so I am writing while I think.
That could be something to do with the dreariness of winter, so many of us are just battening down and waiting for it to be over, waiting for lighter evenings and a bit of outdoor eating! It's hard to imagine things we can take photos of or share from our week that doesn't involve large puddles or windswept trees.

Okay so this is my idea : Media Moments

Even if we spend a lot of time indoors we can share our thoughts and memories on these:

    • Monday.... a picture I love
    • Tuesday... my Craft heaven
    • Wednesday... memorable sculpture or art
    • Thursday ... TV favourites
    • Friday .... the power of Advertising
    • Saturday  ... my Blog story
    • Sunday ... Digital or Print?
